“Remember Me.” ~2016

This has been a year worth remembering. For many, it’s a year that they want to see come to a swift and painful demise. So many people have been saying lately that 2016 was worthless, awful, and just plain nasty. I ask that you take a look at it again and consider what the Lord has done for you this year. Yes, many bad things have happened, but there was also plenty of good. I bet that if you […]

A Little Pick-Me-Up

In addition to my regular photography project, I’ve decided to do another little project of sorts this summer. I am compiling a list of things that make me feel happy, and I will attempt to photograph most of them. I need a little pick me up as I have been down in the dumps lately. I decided that re-focusing my attention on good things will be a helpful practice. I have ambitious plans of my list including 100 things. […]

Overwhelmed by God

As I sit and write this, I am completely overwhelmed. This is a good thing, because I am not overwhelmed by my responsibilities, my children, the demands of my life, or my bills. I am overwhelmed by my God. I am awestruck when I consider all that He has done and is doing in my life. In fact last night I sat and literally cried because I was so touched that He cared so deeply about me. Every once in […]

Mother’s Day Joy!

Last weekend we celebrated Mother’s Day. It was a wonderful day for me filled with joy and many happy moments. I hope that all of you moms out there had a wonderful day also. I think that the best moments were hearing my kids laughing and playing together as they planted my flowerbeds full of colorful impatiens, petunias, and snap dragons. It’s always so delightful to hear them good-naturedly teasing and having fun with each other. Nothing makes […]

Mary’s ponderings

“But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:19 My pastor used this scripture in his sermon the other day, and I have been hearing it in other places, as well as reading it myself, since Christmas is drawing so near. I love this verse. It really jumps out to me every time I hear it. I like the word ponder. It’s just such a funny word! Besides the hilarity of the word ponder, it has a […]

Thirty Days of Thankful: Days Twenty-Nine and Thirty

One thing that gets me through the dark days of wintertime is candles. They are so beautiful! The way they flicker is mesmerizing. I could just sit and watch the flames dance for hours, of course I wouldn’t get anything done, but…. The other thing that makes me thankful for candles is the way they set an atmosphere of warmth in the home. They send forth their fire to make a small space toasty and homey. In addition to […]

Thirty Days of Thankful: Day Twenty-Seven

Music has such a powerful way of impacting our lives. When we are young, our mothers sing us lullabies. I can still remember a couple of hymns my mom sang to me as a baby, How Great Thou Art and The Old Rugged Cross. Every time I hear them, I am reminded of those long ago times when I was a carefree child. As I grew older, she continued to sing to me most nights before bed. I loved the sound of […]

Thirty Days of Thankful: Days Twenty-Five and Twenty-Six

Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I thought I’d take this opportunity to discuss how thankful I am for holidays. Holidays are a special time for most people. A time to gather with family and friends to celebrate and EAT! 🙂 For most people, holiday celebrations bring back fond childhood memories filled with tradition. I know that is true for me, and especially for my children too. They all have special traditions that make the holiday complete. One […]

Thirty Days of Thankful: Day Twenty-Four

This may sound very odd coming from a home schooling mom, but I am thankful for our local public high school. Once you hear what I have to say, I think you’ll understand what I mean. My oldest two sons have attended Howell High School, so I’ve been exposed to some of the educational benefits they offer. One of the things that my boys have been involved with is the choir program, which is excellent! The thing I really like […]
