Exodus Exposition

I am currently reading and studying the book of Exodus. I’ll admit that it is a little tedious and wordy, as it is full of rules for God’s people to follow as well as very specific blueprints for the construction of the Tabernacle. (The Tabernacle was the movable sanctuary where the priests were to offer regular sacrifices to God.) God was very clear in His instructions to His people, the Israelites. He was not ambiguous or confusing in His laws […]

My Camping Excursion and a Photo Essay

Well, we returned from camping about a week ago and I am finally finishing up my laundry. It sits there and clogs up my laundry room for about a week after each year’s camping trip, and when I am finally finished it is just so satisfying! 🙂 I was thinking the whole time I was gone about how I would describe this camping trip to you when I got home. It was a really good trip. While I was there […]

Fill ‘er up!

As usual my weekend went by in a flurry of activity, but many things were accomplished and it was fun! Friday night I dropped off two of my teens at church for a retreat that they were going to with their youth group. On Saturday I was able to spend some quality time getting to really know a couple of sweet friends from church while I waited for my daughters to practice for a musical they will […]

Birthday-palooza and more! :)

This week represents the birthdays of many people dear to me: three of my children, my mother-in-law, and my son’s girlfriend. And next week are two more family and girlfriend birthdays. It’s like Christmas in March for our family! All of this fun makes my head spin, so I am glad to have a breather for a few days in between. The other things that are going on in our wild and crazy kid-filled life are: school, choir concerts, youth […]

More Helpful Tips For Home Schooling :)

As a parent you know your own child well. In today’s post I’d like to explain how knowing them and tailoring your teaching to their skills is the best way to educate them. I also want to delve into God’s ideas on the subject of educating our children. When I say that we can tailor-fit each child’s education to them, I do not mean that we should let them dictate what, how, and when they will learn. Because let’s […]

My Top 2 Home Schooling Tips!

Every year around this time I begin to assess our school year. What worked? What didn’t? What areas do I need to hit harder next school year or even begin to redo now? Usually by this time I have a fairly good grasp of the strengths and weaknesses of my kidlets. Sometimes the academics are running along smoothly and the real challenge is helping them to develop the character of a mature, responsible person. Academics are very important to me. […]

What’s Happening?

Today I am tired, so tired in fact that I am having serious trouble concentrating. Last night our furnace went out. Thankfully, we had enough space heaters to keep everyone warm enough overnight. Our bedroom was so warm though that I woke up after a fitful sleep because I felt like an overdone roast. I only got about 51/2 hours of sleep, so I am ready for bed already. We attend a Bible study once a week and our memory […]

“It’s a Wonderful Life!”

We had a wonderful family Christmas this year. I am thankful for all of my family, those I don’t see (because of distance), those I see frequently, and those who are mine by choice! They are all such a blessing, each in their own way. I am extremely thankful for my loving church family too. My church is the kind of church where we all love to serve and do things together as a “family”. I just love that! Christmas […]
