What’s Happening?

Today I am tired, so tired in fact that I am having serious trouble concentrating. Last night our furnace went out. Thankfully, we had enough space heaters to keep everyone warm enough overnight. Our bedroom was so warm though that I woke up after a fitful sleep because I felt like an overdone roast. I only got about 51/2 hours of sleep, so I am ready for bed already. We attend a Bible study once a week and our memory […]

Why We Must Persevere

Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” This verse has been running around and around in my head over the past weeks as I have been trying to get my children back into a sense of normalcy after the crazy, over-indulgent, and chaotic holiday season! Staying up late, eating massive amounts of sugar, lots of gifts, activities, and parties have all wreaked […]

January Photo Project (White)

This year I decided to give myself a photography project with the goal of growing my skills in creative composition and also the discipline of using a “real” camera….the kind with the knobs and buttons ๐Ÿ™‚ ย The main project I chose to do this year was to pick a color of the month and shoot pictures with that color theme. I will probably do other projects as well, but for now I will focus on color. I really love color! […]

Don’t be an Eeyore.

This week we have been busy planning our summer vacation. Do you ever wonder how planning time to relax can be so stressful? It has been a tense week of trying to secure not one, but two campsites together (since we take a small army with us wherever we go) at apparently the most popular campground in the western world!! Seriously, why can’t some of these other people go elsewhere? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Our family has been going there for many years. […]

The Most Important Thing to Remember About Control

We all do it, even though it often proves to be a fruitless, frustrating waste of our time and energy; still we persist. Now I’ve got you thinking. What is the “it” I’m referring to? In this case, I am talking about trying to control our own little worlds. Trying to control everyone and everything in our own little circles is at best pointless, and at worst frustrating and potentially harmful. There are things that I have tried for YEARS […]

Photography Project Update

Well I spent some time the other day working on my photography project. I’m excited to upload my pictures and begin to edit them into a collage of sorts. I had to take many pictures and use a couple of different lenses to get some of the shots that I hope to use. I’ll probably take many more also because it never hurts to have a large selection from which to choose! I’m having such fun experimenting, learning, and growing. […]

Photography Project of the Month

I was talking with my oldest daughter the other day and she mentioned that she had been pondering ideas for photography projects this coming year. She had some great ideas. One of them is also an idea that a friend of mine did last year as she was taking photography classes I believe. It is the one that I have chosen to do this year because I think it will be really fun and will help me to build my […]

Can I Get a Witness?

I don’t know about you, but witnessing has always been tough for me. I know that as a Christian I am supposed to be letting my light shine and reaching others for God’s kingdom, but honestly it is just so hard for me. I’m fairly sure that I am not alone in this. I think that anytime we know what we should be doing and aren’t, it’s because we think it is too hard or awkward. The thing is, it […]

If Jonah Couldn’t Do It, Neither Can You!

As I was browsing through the Bible recently, I came across a verse in Jonah that set me to thinking. It’s from Jonah 1:16. It says: “Then the men feared the Lord exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice to the Lord and took vows.” I’m sure that most everyone is familiar with the story of Jonah, but if you’re not, here is a brief synopsis. Jonah was a prophet of God sent to preach to the people of Nineveh. […]
